CJ Nash

Drums

Since the age of 7 years years, old, Cj has maintained an extensive career as a percussionist and a drummer around not only Australia but the world. After a 20 year career and being a highly sort after drummer nation wide, Cj is passionate and proactive in the education of drums, percussion and the music industry. Cj played in all of the school ensembles and was involved with cover bands, Jazz ensembles, brass bands and metal bands by the age of 15. He had been on several music exchange programs to China, Japan and Taiwan and competed around Australia and New Zealand.

Studying Classical Percussion at the Conservatorium of Music was where He was offered a teaching position at the Taiwanese-founded school Ju Percussion. During his time at the school he created a drum kit program and put countless students through AMEB and Rock School exams. After his departure from Ju Percussion in 2015, He has taught privately and around Brisbane since then helping his students achieve the goals that they want to achieve. Most of his students have gone onto becoming full time musicians, sound engineers and and fellow piers of his in the industry.

During his career, Cj played in several brass bands including Brisbane Excelsior, Windsor Brass and Sunnybank Brass which provided him with the opportunity to grow his playing in competitions against his peers from across Australia. In his career brass banding, he has won an A Grade Australian Championship in 2014,A Grade State Championship in 2015, and an A Grade New Zealand Championship in 2008 with Brisbane Excelsior. Ontop of his competitions, Cj has toured in Shanghai and Switzerland with his percussion.

Although Cj has an extensive career as a percussionist, he also has toured with many bands and artists nationally and internationally as a drummer. He as played and toured with the likes of such artists as James Morrison, Diskust, A Breach of Silence, Combicrist, Thy art is Murder and many more. He currently plays for Kaosis, Symbolic Weapon and does session drumming for many Brisbane bands and Bignote Productions. Next to this he founded Nash Management where he is helping coach artists and bands with their releases, tours and organisation.

When Cj works with his students he likes to cater the the needs and interests of the student. His lessons and teaching style works on having fun, finding a routine and creating a practical learning environment alongside with mindset coaching. Each student is motivated by different reasons and goals for starting or pursuing music. This is what Cj loves the most about about music education and is excited to learn what makes his students become the best versions of them selves.

Currently outside of teaching, you can find Cj gigging around Brisbane and the Gold Coast with a variety of acts, touring with Kaosis and working out of Bignote with Nash Management.
